A supplier capability assessment tests whether a supplier has the people, equipment, process, systems and experience required for a defined scope. It can be completed through documents, interviews, samples or a site assessment.
| Area | What to record |
|---|---|
| Decision | Translate the specification into observable capabilities. For manufacturing, that may include process steps, equipment limits, tooling, metrology, yield and engineering support. |
| Evidence | Capture evidence for each requirement, capacity constraints, subcontracted work, gaps, corrective actions and the person who approved the assessment. |
| Watch point | General company experience does not prove capability for a particular material, tolerance, volume or destination requirement. |
