Full truckload, or FTL, is a road-freight service in which a shipment uses a dedicated truck or trailer for one shipper’s movement. The vehicle may be booked exclusively even when space is not completely filled.

FTL uses dedicated capacity. Less-than-truckload combines several shippers’ freight and may transfer it through terminals.
How is pricing determined?
Rates can depend on lane, distance, equipment, fuel, season, weight, appointments and accessorials. A flat line-haul quote may exclude waiting or special handling.
When is FTL suitable?
It can fit large volume, high value, fragile cargo, time-sensitive delivery or loads that require sealed dedicated equipment.
What should be tracked?
Record equipment, pickup, seal where used, route, delivery appointment, proof of delivery, waiting time and damage exceptions.
