What needs to be decided
Define responsibility for design, materials, tooling, product approvals, testing, export documents and waste or excess inventory. Control any imported inputs and subcontracted processes. Set notification periods for changes to material origin or production site.

Keep the agreement, approved sites, bill of materials, specification, samples, production validation, inspection records and shipment releases.

Where buyers get caught
Moving an existing product to Vietnam may require new tooling, supplier development and origin analysis. A copied specification rarely creates an immediate equivalent process.
