A cubic meter, written m³ or CBM, is a volume unit equal to a cube measuring one meter on each side. Freight providers use it to describe cargo space and calculate volume-based charges.
How is CBM calculated?
CBM = length × width × height in meters × number of packages

What measurement errors are common?
Common errors include mixing centimeters and meters, measuring the product instead of final packaging, omitting pallet dimensions and failing to multiply by package count.
CBM versus volumetric weight
CBM is physical volume. Volumetric weight converts volume into a billing weight using a carrier divisor.
