A procurement service-level agreement defines measurable service commitments for procurement work performed by an internal shared service or external provider. Measures can cover response, cycle time, accuracy, backlog and issue resolution. Each measure needs a clear start event, stop event, exclusions and data source.
How is Procurement Service-Level Agreement structured?
A procurement SLA translates the outsourced scope into measures such as response time, sourcing-cycle milestones, compliance or transaction accuracy. Each measure needs a data source, owner, calculation rule and exception treatment. Targets should reflect business impact; a fast event is not successful if the award lacks approval, supplier evidence or usable commercial terms.
What to define before launch
Record the metric definition, target, calculation, reporting period, source system, exceptions, service credits if any and corrective-action process.
Where buyers get caught
Fast processing is not the same as a good procurement outcome. Service levels should not reward speed that weakens competition, controls or supplier decisions.
