Australia's New Payments Platform, or NPP, is always-available infrastructure for fast, data-rich account-to-account payments. Participating institutions use it to offer services that can move Australian-dollar payments and supporting information in near real time.
The NPP is infrastructure rather than a single identical bank product. Features, limits, addressing options and business workflows depend on the participating institution and service used.
Using NPP services in accounts payable
- Check the recipient account or approved addressing method through the sending institution.
- Pass a useful remittance reference so the recipient can match the credit to an invoice.
- Separate submission, confirmation and reconciliation records even when the transfer is fast.

NPP does not mean every payment is irrevocable under every circumstance or that every account has the same limit. The provider's service terms and status evidence govern the customer transaction.
