Local Bank details are account and institution identifiers formatted for a country’s domestic payment systems. They may include an account number plus a routing, sort, branch or clearing code. The exact fields depend on the jurisdiction, currency and rail.
Examples of local identifiers
| Market or format | Typical identifier | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Account and routing number | ACH and wire instructions can differ |
| United Kingdom | Account number and sort code | Payment method and account eligibility matter |
| European payments | IBAN, sometimes BIC | SEPA eligibility depends on participants and transaction |
| Philippines | Account number and receiving institution | InstaPay and PESONet participation and limits vary |
Local details versus an international account route
Local details can let an eligible payer send through a domestic rail. International instructions may require a BIC, intermediary data or another account format. A currency label alone does not prove the details are domestic or that every payer type can use them.
Verification before payment
Match the account name with the approved Recipient, validate the required fields and independently confirm changes through a known contact. The display of plausible local formatting does not prove the request is legitimate.
BSP lists Philippine payment-system information and participants. An eligible Currency Account may provide Bank details for supported currencies, subject to the provider entity and approved use.
