Business verification confirms that an organization exists and that selected identity, ownership and operating information is supported by reliable evidence. The required checks depend on the relationship, jurisdiction, product and risk rather than on one universal document list.
What information can be verified?
- Registered legal name and entity number
- Formation status and registered address
- Directors, officers and authorized representatives
- Ownership and controlling persons
- Business activity, licenses and tax identifiers
- Bank account and operating contact details
How does verification operate?
Collect the claimed business information, compare it with authoritative registries and supporting documents, resolve inconsistencies and record the evidence and date. Higher-risk cases may require enhanced review of ownership, activity, source of funds or counterparties.
Business verification vs. KYB
Business verification describes the act of confirming business information. Know Your Business (KYB) is the broader due-diligence process that uses verification along with risk assessment, ownership analysis, screening and ongoing monitoring.
When should records be refreshed?
Refresh on material changes, periodic review or risk signals such as a new owner, representative, address, activity or bank account. A valid registration at onboarding does not establish that all information remains current.
