Use a SWIFT or BIC for an international business payment to Malaysia. A DuitNow acquirer ID identifies a participant in the DuitNow QR specification; it is not a general substitute for every Malaysian bank-routing field.

The table below covers 36 banks in PayNet’s current DuitNow QR acquirer table. PayNet publishes the acquirer ID and BIC together. It excludes non-bank payment providers, JomPAY and institutions marked as still onboarding. Compare every value with the receiving bank’s instructions before sending money.

Malaysia SWIFT codes and DuitNow acquirer IDs

A SWIFT/BIC identifies a financial institution in international bank messaging. The six-digit acquirer ID belongs to the DuitNow QR data specification. Other Malaysian payment services can use different participant or bank identifiers.

PayNet’s table supplies eight-character BICs for these institutions. Do not add XXX or another branch suffix unless the receiving bank provides it.

Are SWIFT codes different for business accounts?

Business and personal accounts usually share the institution-level SWIFT/BIC. Receiving instructions can still differ by legal entity, branch, account currency, banking product and correspondent route.

For a business payment, obtain bank-issued instructions showing the registered business name, account number, account currency, bank name and required payment identifiers. Confirm changed or first-time instructions through a known contact at the recipient business.

When should a DuitNow acquirer ID be used?
  1. Check the payment service. Use the acquirer ID only where a DuitNow QR integration or instruction explicitly requests it.
  2. Do not substitute an FPX ID. FPX, JomPAY and other PayNet services publish their own participant identifiers.
  3. Match the legal bank entity. Similar bank names can refer to different Malaysian entities or services.
  4. Confirm before release. Compare international transfer details with bank-issued receiving instructions for the beneficiary account.

Frequently asked questions

Is a DuitNow acquirer ID the same as a SWIFT code?

No. A SWIFT/BIC identifies a financial institution for international bank messaging. A DuitNow acquirer ID identifies a participant in the DuitNow QR specification.

Can I use the DuitNow acquirer ID for any Malaysian transfer?

No. Use it only when the relevant DuitNow QR workflow asks for it. FPX, JomPAY and other services can use different codes.

Do Malaysian business accounts use different SWIFT codes?

Usually they share the institution-level BIC. The correct instructions can still differ by legal entity, branch, currency, product or correspondent route.

How should Malaysian bank details be verified?

Compare them with written receiving instructions from the beneficiary bank. Confirm the bank entity, account currency and requested payment service before releasing a material payment.
