What evidence supports the assumptions?
Use drawings, bills of material, commodity indices, labor standards, freight quotes, production yields and supplier explanations. Record the date, currency and unit for each input.
How is the model used in negotiation?
Focus on the drivers with the largest impact and discuss alternatives such as material, volume, packaging or delivery changes. Avoid presenting an uncertain estimate as a factual accusation.
What are the limitations?
Capacity utilization, proprietary process know-how, risk and commercial strategy may not be visible. Run sensitivities instead of relying on one precise-looking answer.
